Multibank UK Inviting Applications for Two New Trustees
Multibank UK is inviting applications for two new trustees to join our Board, one of them as our Treasurer. We are keen to improve the diversity of our board so welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. More details about our organisation and who we are can be found at www.themultibank.co.uk
Multibank UK has grown rapidly since its inception in 2023. Our aim is to alleviate the effects of poverty, to help families escape poverty and provide dignity. Last year we provided 15m items to over 1m families in need. We operate a unique distribution system with 6 regional multibanks and a 7th to open shortly. In turn these regional multibanks, which are each run by an independent local charity, have relationships with over 3,000 local charities and organisations who know their local communities incredibly well and are able to distribute appropriate items to individual families in need. This distribution system is highly effective and efficient and ensures the dignity of the families.
The Multibank is based on a simple idea. Taking surplus goods from companies and giving them to people who need them. Good for people and good for the environment. Clothes, bedding, baby and hygiene products, toys, furniture and any other non-food items that make a harsh life a bit easier and provide opportunities and dignity to people. Our social impact studies show a £6 return for every £1 invested and marked reductions in school absenteeism and other measures of social deprivation.
Our partners include companies such as Amazon and Centrica, and we are supported by a range of the UKs leading foundations.
In addition to the responsibilities expected of all trustees, the Treasurer trustee we are seeking will also lead on:
- • Maintaining an overview of the organisation's financial affairs
- • Working with our finance lead to ensure our financial viability
- • Ensuring that proper financial records and procedures are maintained
For details of what is expected of charity trustees, please visit the governance section of www.ncvo.org.uk
We expect Trustees to attend 8 board meetings a year, half in person at one of our regional multibanks and half online. In addition, given our desire to maintain a lean professional core at the centre, we expect Trustees to be involved in other activities where they can add value.
If you are interested in a conversation or to apply, please contact Eric Salama, Chair of Trustees on ericsalama1@gmail.com with a covering letter and CV by 27th April 2026.
